Description

1992.002 "Wee-Tempo" Boat Type: Outboard, Racing Hydroplane Builder: Fred Jacoby Boat Works Model: Flyaway A Length: 9' Beam: 48" Date Built:1935-1940 The Fred Jacoby Boat Works in North Bergen, New Jersey built racing outboard boats in the late 1930s. The only information that ABM has on this company is a flyer about this model, the Flyaway, which had a very impressive record of wins in many different races, achieving speeds up to 79.04 mph. The Flyaway is a single-step racing hydroplane. It is constructed of spruce and marine plywood, with an aircraft-canvas foredeck. The model was made in different lengths up to 12'. Jacoby also offered a 13' outboard runabout. "Wee-Tempo" is a 9' (model A) Flyaway. She is in very good shape, her condition leaves nothing to be desired except a careful cleaning and a sorting out of her steering cables. EVS 08
