Letter to Alfred Lee of Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. Transcription: Hallandale Dec 25 1934 Dear Alf I am wishing you all a Happy and prosperous New Year. I also am going to ask you to send me one of the blanks we fill out for our gas rebate. Have not received the returns for Sept & Oct as yet and am afraid they are holding it back. They have always been more prompt. Have you or any of the other users of gas received their rebates for those months? Do they hold it back sometimes? I wrote Jack about [end of document]

Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection is held at the Cornwall Brothers Store Museum in Alexandria Bay, NY. Due to mutual interests in the substance and context of the collection, the ABM digitized the collection to be able to use the materials for internal exhibit purposes.
