A letter to Fitzgerald & Lee from Ben H. Berry Transcription: WA. 3189 Ben H. Berry Attorney-At-Law 901 Georgia Savings Bank Bldg. Atlanta, GA March 19, 1934 Fitzgerald and Lee, Inc. Alexandria Bay, New York Gentlemen; I am in receipt of a letter from Mr.. Dannis attorney in which he informs me that Mr. Dannis will take up this mortgage as soon as he aproves the title. I look to hear from him this week in referance to this. The current taxes were paid on this piece of property just a few weeks ago. This makes two years taxes that have been paid for you through error. Before we will close this deal with Mr. Dannis these taxes must be paid to Mrs. Brown. The amount is $51.90 for each year or $103.80 for the two years. We will be glad to accept $100.00 in full settlement for these taxes provided you will send the check by return mail. Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection is held at the Cornwall Brothers Store Museum in Alexandria Bay, NY. Due to mutual interests in the substance and context of the collection, the ABM digitized the collection to be able to use the materials for internal exhibit purposes.
