Gentlemen;
Attention: Mr. J. B. Fitzgerald
I am in receipt of your letter of Feb. 7th. in regard to notes due Mrs. Anna N. Brown.
I have been in communication with Mrs. Brown this morning in regards to this and she has instructed me to make the following arrangement with you.
Pay half of this note at once $125.00) plus interest on this half to date. Mrs. Brown has agreed to give you thirty days then, in which to make arrangements to pay of the balance of these notes or to pay the balance on this note.
In case you are not able to get some one to take this mortgage over and have to continue to pay these notes as in the past, I would like to call to your attention the matter of 1933 taxes which Mrs. Brown paid for you by mistake.
You will please make all remitances to me by New York Exchange, as I hold all the notes and papers, they being transferred to me by the Watertown Savings Bank.
Interest on half of the Feb. 1st. note amounts to $9.65 to date, making a total of $134.65 for half of this note.
I request you to please make this remitance prompt as Mrs. Brown is in dire need of it, her finance being completely gone.
Respectfully yours,
Ben H. Berry

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.Collection
