Scope and Content

Letter to Fitzgerald & Lee from Lisle R. Beardslee Transcription: Lisle R. Beardslee 1775 Broadway New York, N. Y. December 14, 1937 Mr. J. B. Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc., Alexandria Bay, N.Y. Dear Fitz: Thanks a lot for yours of November 29th. I am also pleased to say that I have received a letter from Walter, saying "She is a different boat" and "I am pleased with her". I, therefore, hope with you that our troubles are all over. I know you won't mind if I don't pay all at once, and I am therefore enclosing a check on account. I appreciate your attitude in the matter very much indeed. With best wishes to you and your family, as well as the other boys, for a Merry Christmas, I am, Sincerely yours, L R Beardslee enc.

Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.
