Dear Mr. Fitzgerald:
Thanks for your letter of October 19th.
I was sorry not to have seen you again before we left, but it got a little chilly and we thought it desirable on account of Mrs. Walling to get an early start.
I do want you to go ahead with the bait well. I had in mind, as I discussed with you, the possibility of putting two opera seats on the back of the two front seats. I would be glad to have you give me an idea of approximately what such a change would cost, and whether it looks practicable to you. It would then be possible for four people to ride forward, and under the present top in case of bad weather. This is not a serious matter although I though it might be quite a convenience.
At the present moment, my judgment is to keep the present engine, in which case I would like to have you replace the other five pistons and rings. If you don't have to get at the engine work right away, you might defer this a little while in case I can work out some other scheme.
I would like to have the varnish removed and have the boat revarnished, as suggested by you. If Walter has the time, I am quite sure he would be glad to work at your place on it. I will write him about it today, and will thank you to also contact him.
With best wishes,
Sincerely yours,
L R Beardslee

The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.Collection
