Att: Mr. J. B. Fitzgerald
Dear Mr. Fitzgerald:
It certainly relieved me of all responsibility to learn from your letter of November 18th that the "Say-So" has been rebuilt.
I was wondering whether I would decide to go ahead or try to save the money in view of the most unpleasant business outlook at the present time. Anyway, I guess it is a job well done and I know I shall be pleased with it.
I was very much interested in your remarks about Mr. Reid's boat. However, it should be said that Walter at no time wanted the engine in that boat. What he was talking about what the desirability of getting the boat and transferring the engine from the "Say-So" to it. I have no doubt, however, that the boat would also have been in about the same condition. As far as I am concerned, I am entirely satisfied, providing you have put a bottom on the "Say-So" that will not leak, and I hope Walter will be pleased with it.
With best wishes,
Sincerely yours,
L R Beardslee

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.Collection
