Att: Mr. J. B. Fitzgerald
Dear Fitz:
Thanks for your letter of November 10th. I certainly thought that when I bought the "Say-So", I bought a boat with a bottom that would not leak, and I appreciate your statement that you sold me the boat in good faith, supposing that the bottom was all right.
It was certainly on that basis that I bought it.
What you say about rebuilding the bottom sounds very interesting, but it seems to me this is about like building a new boat. I do want this boat, or some similar boat, that would be satisfactory to Walter, yet I have to look at the question of cost. What is your approximate guess of the amount that it would cost me to have the suggest work done?Context
The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.Collection
