Scope and Content

Letter to Fitzgerald & Lee from Lisle R. Beardslee Transcription: Lisle R. Beardslee 1775 Broadway New York January 6, 1937. Mr. J. B. Fitzgerald Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc., Alexandria Bay, N.Y. Dear Fitz: Thanks very much for yours of the 16th of December. I am glad that you were able to fix up the engine of the "Polly B" before it had gone too far, for when these things go beyond a certain point, they become very expensive. I really don't see any necessity of putting splashers on the "Say So". Shall look forward to the pleasure of seeing you at the Motor Boat Show. With kindest regards, Sincerely yours, L R Beardslee L. Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.
