Attention: Mr. Fitzgerald
Gentlemen:
I am in receipt of your letter of the 14th in reply to my letter of the 13th regarding getting the boat in service for June 1st,
With regard to the question which you bring up concerning a paint and varnish job, the boat, as you know, was only in the water about three months last year, so I'm wondering if this job is necessary. However, I'm not familiar with the question of what should be done in this way, so if you think the boat [should-struck out] needs this paint and varnish job for the protection of the boat, go ahead with it. Naturally I want to keep the boat in good condition, and not allow it to deteriorate from lack of attention.
You may arrange to put in a spare propeller and the boat hook.
Yours truly,
D.N. Calkins
[handwritten note] Will let you know the later part of next week the day that I expect to need the boat.Collection
