Letter to Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. from Francis J. O'Brien Transcription: [Letterhead: Dr. Francis J. O'Brien, 1016 Lake Avenue, Rochester, New York] April 3, 1938 Mr. J.B. Fitzgerald Alexandria Bay, N.Y. Dear Mr. Fitzgerald, Thank you for your most recent letter and pictures. Why didn't you answer all my letter and avoid delay? Of course I said I was in no hurry and could wait for a second, stock boat if somebody else wanted the "Show boat" model. You didn't mention the automatic bailer or pump (in case of rain) I don't believe in canvas covers. They do not protect varnish from the sun. I hope to build an addition to my boathouse but at first I'd have to expose one boat. Secondly as to price I wanted to know in what way the stock boat will be cheapened. I cannot interest people here over about eight hundred. I'm afraid Mr. Paine will have to get a second hand boat, as his limit is $500. As for me I'd as lief send you five hundred cash if you could make the balance on delivery two hundred and my boat and motor which would bring it under $1000. I need not publish the price unless you wished. When would you want my boat and motor? I'd have Art Nunn or Gus Seymour get it out for you. If the Gar Wood has been so well housed I should think it would not need refinishing. Of course the bottom must be painted and the engine inspected. I hope the new bridge will help, not hurt, the Bay. My old chum, Wm Lyon McKenzie King, premier of all the Canada, will be there, but I may not recognize him as it is forty three years since I was graduated with him. Yours truly Francis J. O'Brien
