letter to Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. from Mary D. Washburne Transcription: September 20, 1937 [Letterhead: Mrs. Louis F. Washburne, 24 Ellis Place, Ossining, N.Y. Fitzgerald & Lee Dear Mr. Lee: Thank you for your letter about the Wyanoke. You told me what I wanted to know. We have decided to have the boat painted and varnished this fall so please finish up the boat including painting and varnishing so it can be laid up by Mr. Hanson before he goes south. Last year when my son ran on a rock in the Lost Channel you put on a new propeller and you reconditioned the one that was page 2 injured. I have asked Mr. Hanson to bring that propeller up here to see if we can make use of it instead of a new one. In that case you can recondition the one now injured for the cost of $4.00 and we will save that for the next accident. We want the Wyanoke made absolutely safe and if you think it won't be with the reconditioned propeller you may put in a new one but if it will be all right please use it as the repairs from accidents are considerable expense. Please let me know if the boat is going to be perfectly safe. Please do all necessary work to put it in condition including page 3 painting and varnishing as soon as you can and let Mr. Hanson know when to call for it. The paint and varnish had better be thoroughly dry before he takes it. Now as to the cushions. Please write me what the three new cushions (to replace those that were stolen) will cost and the cost of recovering the old cushions and back of the front seat to match. Should this work be done now or in the spring? Which would be cheaper? And page 4 how long will it take? Sorry to ask so many questions but I would like to know if the Wyanoke will be safe, if you can use the reconditioned propeller and about the upholstery. Thanking you for your letter Sincerely yours Mary O. Washburne
