Scope and Content

Letter to Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. from Roy MacDougal, courtesy of E. J. Koldhoff Transcription: The Carlton under Knoll Management Binghamton, N.Y. 11-27-34 Lee & Fitzgerald Alexandria Bay, N.Y. Dear Mr. Lee, Due to the fact that our marine line literature is being revised, prior to a vigorous sales campaign, I have deferred our visit. However, immediately we have our new program outlined I will be up to present you with our plan. It will be a splendid proposition I assure you. As our presence in that territory your sales should be tremendous. Will write you about a week before we are done, so that there will be no possible chance of missing you. Very sincerely yours, Roy MacDougal Valentine & Co. c/o E. J. Koldhoff 119 Ryckman Ave., Albany, N.Y.

Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.
