Dear Mr. Fitzgerald:
Thank you for your letter of the 20th. I am just as pleased as you about the Lyon order and hope you are successful in turning out a wonderful boat.
I do not think I want a racing boat such as we talked about with the Scripps Twelve. It would just be as Mr. Harker states I would have only a racing boat and nothing exceptional in the way of speed at that, unless on of the 225 class boats would be faster and cost less for maintenance and first cost. This is the class racing boat I think you should find if you are going to have some real racing, bringing in outside competition. The next best thing is the small Garwood boat.
To sell the motor to best advantage I think your suggestion of building a runabout for it say 28 ft. is the best. But I I think you should keep your costs down to a point where you can deliver it complete for less than Garwood same size hull with 6 cyl Scripps, in order to be safe in so far as having a saleable boat is concerned. I would not be interested in buying the boat for our use as you know we have ample now. If you can dispose of the motor separately I still think a boat like the WHL

already to deliver complete by about Jun 1st for about 26 or $2700 will be a saleable one.
I am sorry to hear of Mr. Bells[?] death. I know he had a bad heart so am not surprised.
My regards to all the boys.
Yours very truly,
W.H. Linkroum
