A letter to J. B. Fitzgerald, courtesy of Fitzgerald & Lee Inc., from Irving Abraham expressing disappointment upon hearing no news of a "Fold Boat." Transcription: Irving Abraham 5 West 86th Street New York City June 4th 1938. Mr. J. B. Fitzgerald c/o Fitzgerald & Lee Inc. Alexandria Bay, N. Y. Dear Mr. Fitzgerald: I regret very much that circumstances will prevent my spending any time at the Thousand Islands this coming Summer. If it will be possible for you to dispose of the Fold Boat at any price that you may consider reasonable, I would more that appreciate your doing so. You do not have to consult me before making the sale, whatever you arrange goes with me. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate what you have done for me. Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection is held at the Cornwall Brothers Store Museum in Alexandria Bay, NY. Due to mutual interests in the substance and context of the collection, the ABM digitized the collection to be able to use the materials for internal exhibit purposes.
