Mr. Lisle R. Beardslee,
1775 Broadway,
New York, N. Y.
Dear Mr. Beardslee:
Your letter received and we will do the work as instructed on the "Polly B2. The varnish on the sides and decks of hull to be removed and refinished. Deck seams to be filled. Bait well to be installed. The opera seats we are to give you an approximate price on. The motor is not to be overhauled until we receive word from you.
Personally, I would advise a new motor. Even though we install new pistons there are other parts which may develop trouble. As you know we built this boat for you in 1930 and delivered it to you at that time. You would have five new pistons, rings and wrist pins which cost $8.40 each including rings and pins. To get a good job the cylinders should be honed and oversize rings and pistons installed. This would run into $175. to $200. We will allow you $200. for this motor as is. Why not wait and not do anything on the motor until we meet at the Motor Boat Show and at that time we could check on the right motor for the "Polly B", and by that time you may be decided on just what you wish to do.
We have the boat in our shop and will have Walter do what he can to help our removing varnish etc. If the weather permits we will have boat finished and haled out in your boat house. If not we will haul out one of our boats at your place and store the "Polly B" at our plant providing this is satisfactory to you. Would like your approval on this.
Will let you know soon about the Opera seats.
Very truly yours,
Fitzgerald & Lee Inc.
