A letter to Mrs. Anna N. Brown from Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. Transcription: Dec. 19, 1933. Mrs. Anna N. Brown, Forest Park, Ga. Dear Mrs. Brown: We have your letter of Dec. 14th. and wish to advise that we will have your check for you within the next few days. We can readily understand why you have taken the attitude you have, but it is merely a matter of not having the money with us. However, we expect to get some in right away and will be able to pay you. And then before the next payment is due which is Feb. 1st. we will have the balance of the whole contract paid up in full which will clean the whole matter up and you will have all of your money. Please accept our thanks for your courtesy and we are sorry to have to hold up payment on the note. Very truly yours, Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. By

Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection is held at the Cornwall Brothers Store Museum in Alexandria Bay, NY. Due to mutual interests in the substance and context of the collection, the ABM digitized the collection to be able to use the materials for internal exhibit purposes.
