Scope and Content

A letter to Mrs. James Bryce from Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. Transcription: Jun. 4, 1934. Mrs. James Bryce, 421 Rutherford Bold, Passaic, N. J. Dear Mrs. Bryce: We have your letter of June 2nd. relative to your October 1933. Account, which we are attaching duplicate, the original bill was mailed to Tom on Oct. 31st, 1933. We supposed it would be forwarded to you after he had approved it. However, this work was for overhauling and reconditioning the Gray Motor in your boat the "J.B." and the Chrysler Motor in the "M. L. B." Both your motors are now in first class condition and nothing should have to be done on them when you come up again. The check amounting to $60.00 which you sent us last September was in payment of your spring account or the account proceeding this work. We are indeed very sorry that Mr. Bryce is not well and unable to be at the islands this summer. We hope that he gets along alright and will be able to get up another year. With kindest regards, we are, Very sincerely yours, Fitzgerald & Lee, Inc. By

Context

The Fitzgerald & Lee collection was discovered in 2014, in the attic space of what used to be the Fitzgerald & Lee business offices. The collection was donated to the Alexandria Township Historical Society. Fitzgerald & Lee were prominent boat builders of the area from 1920-1942, building custom boats and selling Gar Wood boats. The museum holds several Fitzgerald & Lee built boats in its permanent collection.
