Description

Perhaps the most unusual feature of Miss Long Island is that she was built by the Richardson Boat Company that was well know for building slow, comfortable cruisers. Most classic boat enthusiasts are unaware of Richardson's involvement with building racing boats. Richardson identified this model as their stock Pelican design. Richardson commissioned the highly regarded naval architect, John Hacker, to design this boat to compete in the popular 151 cubic inch class. There was some indication that she may have also raced under the name of "Baby Peerless" at one time. For a race boat that was involved in years of competition, Miss Long Island has survived in remarkably good shape. She is an excellent example of the 151 class.
