Description

Atosis is completely unrestored, right down to her original finish. Her excellent condition and well-documented history makes Atosis one of the finest preserved boats in our collection due to the excellent stewardship provided by the Norris family since her first splash. Atosis was built by Burton H. "Bub" Norris in 1906-7 while he worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric in Lynn, MA. Her long, skinny design makes her striking and her construction makes her unique for a race boat. She is made with wide, flat cedar ribs and cedar planking which are covered with canvas. This makes her hull lightweight and watertight, resembling a canvas-covered canoe more than your average raceboat! She was originally powered with a 15 HP Roberts Motor Company 4-cyl, 2-stroke engine.
