Douglas Van Patten designed this fascinating modern race boat for boat builder, William Morgan. Their goal was to successfully challenge for the 1983 Gold Cup Trophy. Both Morgan and Van Patten put every bit of creative thought possible into the design and construction of this beautiful craft. Although Something Else never won the Cup, it represented the best creative effort of two veterans who were well versed on the requirements to challenge for the Gold Cup.
