The Beetle Cat sailboat is a traditional design that can handle an astonishing amount of breeze with it broad beam even under full sail. If you examine her dimensions she is nearly half as wide as it is long. Her long fore deck and coaming shed waves and spray before water can work its way to the cockpit. The Beetle Cat is an ideal sailboat to train youngsters the basics of sailing in a craft that is safe and quite forgiving when a mistake is made. When the helm is released, the boat will turn up into the wind and quickly end the heeling forces.
Rose Blossom II spends each summer in the water serving as a regular part of the Museum's fleet of active sailboats. She is both a component of the permanent collection of historic boats and an active vessel in which promising sailors learn the basics of sailing. When the student sailors have mastered their basic training in Rose Blossom II, they are ready to move on to a more challenging sailboat in the Museum fleet.
The Beetle Cat is ruggedly built and can handle a great deal of use.Collection
