Description

Miss Cut Away has become a popular exhibit model and receives a great deal of attention from Museum visitors. Responding to several requests from visitors for a boat that shows more of its construction, a team of Museum volunteers partially restored a small Chris-Craft runabout. The boat is a duplicate of one already in the collection and well suited for the purpose of becoming a demonstration model to help visitors learn some of the special terminology. Visitors can view portions of the interior framing and construction. Each of the exposed areas is clearly labeled with signs that identify parts of the boat's construction. The boat is a living dictionary of boat building terminology where the viewer can read the names of the various parts and clearly see their position in the hull. The multitude of open sections in the hull, deck and transom became the inspiration to name her Miss Cut-Away.
