Description

When Dodge introduced this model in 1930, it made its debut at the National Motor Show and received raves from enthusiast spectators. Its styling was both tasteful and futuristic leaving all other runabouts of similar size in its wake. From the beautiful Sea Nymph that adorned the stem to the beautiful windshield that protected passengers in the aft cockpit, this Dodge set the stage for the next decade of runabout styling. The engine is an 8 cylinder 115 hp. In 1930 most runabouts still offered flat, rectangular windshields and traditional raised decks. Dodge engineers designed an absolutely strikingly V-windshield with a full, bright chrome frame and smartly styled side wings for both the forward and rear cockpits. The aft cockpit windshield was slightly smaller but matched the forward windshield perfectly. Perhaps, the most remarkable feature is that both of these windshields were designed to easily fold out of the way for a wind-in-your-face experience. Some additional Dodge features introduced in 1930 included the attractively flared boot stripe as it approached the stem. Roll and pleated French Blue leather upholstery is another Dodge styling feature that has been faithfully reproduced in Sweetie along with the beautiful instrument panel that also includes a pair of Sea Nymphs. The standard Lycoming 125HP provides ideal performance for this runabout and was the only engine offered by Dodge. The original Lycoming engine in Sweetie has been meticulously restored and is absolutely a showpiece in its own right. Sweetie is one of the most accurately restored Dodges anywhere and presents a pristine example this famous, trend setting runabout. Every Dodge enthusiast will enjoy the opportunity to carefully study every feature of this magnificent boat that moved the entire runabout industry in a new direction.
