George H. Miller (1861-1952) was a well-known builder of St. Lawrence Skiffs in the Thousand Islands, particularly noted for building winning sailing skiffs for local racing. He was also a successful racer of sailing skiffs. His boats are characterized by very smooth planking and finely-designed hulls.
This is a very well made sailing skiff, built in some ways different from other Miller skiffs. Instead of using one fairly wide strip for side decks, this skiff uses two sheerclamps, in addition to the two sheerplanks and the coaming, to make up the width and strength at the sheer, more in the manner of Estes.
This boat has pine floorboards, a single mast hole and step, and one set of offset St. Lawrence Skiff-style oarlocks. It has a couple of splits in the sheerplank that have been repaired adequately, and is otherwise in very good shape. EVS 08
