Description

2001.002 Boat Type: Utility Builder: Chris-Craft Cavalier Division Model: 15' Utility Original Power: Chris Craft A Current Power: Original Length: 15' 11" Beam: 5' 11" Date Built: 1959 This is a small utility boat from Chris Craft's Cavalier division. It is a plywood over sawn frame planing hull with a Chris Craft A engine, double cockpit arrangement for versatile use. There were 1096 of these boats built between 1955 and 1959; this was one of the last made, number 1085. It was a single-owner boat before coming to the Museum, purchased new in 1959 by Lee Walton. This boat has been restored at some point in the recent past, with a few new pieces and a new finish. The stain color is very red, redder than the original color would have been, and somewhat streaked. Overall the boat is very sound and original in appearance. EVS 08
