This hand-carved relief sculpture, depicting a subdued face emerging from a single plank of wood, was created by Tom Malone, an alumnus of the APSU Art Program in the early 1990s. Malone's life was cut tragically short, and his legacy continues through a scholarship established in his name by his family. Today, the sculpture is part of the APSU Art Collection and is housed in the Malone–Halliburton Classroom (Room 113) in the Art + Design Building, where it serves as a lasting reminder of Malone's artistic legacy and continues to inspire Foundations students.
