Broadside Print in "Terra Firma" Folio "Ann Lauinger There are much more likely things this box could hold-- binoculars, bridge deck and score pads, scented soap-- than my mother in plastic: the fire's work (four years cold) fueled by starvation, cigarettes, and dope. Inside, instead of dowager-silver flakes, a last edition soft as Ivory Snow, are scoops of some beach the cold Atlantic rakes: ground mollusk, crustacean husks, and rock that show through the bag like gritty oatmeal. When the great weight of you lifted I thought, she's nothing now. Not true. These are remains. I'm four years late in giving these to earth, and finding how remain beget remains. Where will you turn up next? Always, there's something left to burn. Ashes"Type of Print
