Square built-up stair newel post. Elaborate carved leaf motifs on all four sides. Separate newel post cap. Originally with light fixture (light fixture missing). Cap has egg-and-dart molding. Carved ornaments, and carved initials "JB," on cartouche. Upper end has applied compound contour moldings, Includes rope motif. Bead and lozenge motif. Fine bead motif below lower end. Has applied moldings. Made of oak. Secondary cedar wood. Outside has varnished finish.
