Quarter sawn oak, has rectangular mantel shelf with inscised edge. Elaborate botanical carvings on 3 lintel panels and front of brackets, has turned columns flanking each side.
Columns have carved foliated capitals, body of column has complete ringed contour and vertical fluting. Bases of columns are hollow and one side is faced with carved fan--shaped scrolled decoration. Originally mantel likely had overmantel as evidenced by stained surface of mantel shelf.
Inscriptions or Markings: "LABBE" and "183"
Design motif: Botanical Leaf / Floral.
