Cast iron capital. Originally installed on Abington Building fifth floor.
Hollow block with sloping top, below which is molded cove.
Applied ornament bolted on front with shield-shaped central cartouche. Elaborate acanthus leaf motif ornamentation, flanked on each side by volutes. Each side of capital has repeating acanthus and volute ornaments bolted on.
Reverse has two eyelets for anchorage to masonry, each with attached wrought iron loop.
Brick and mortar still adhering to back.
Originally there were eight capitals of this type and size. This is one of two extant.
Front and sides painted with multiple layers of paint, original finish appears to be sand texturized to simulate beige sandstone.
