Description

A two-part enameled gilt award insignia. A rectangular top bar carries the relief legend "MOVIMIENTO POR CLASES DE ALTA CALIDAD" on a red enamel ground and suspends, via a loop, a circular pendant medal. The pendant has a red enamel ground bearing a left-facing profile portrait of José Martí, encircled by "DESTACADO" (upper arc) and "PINAR DEL RIO" (lower arc) in relief gilt lettering.

It is a post-1959 revolutionary-era educational emulation award, stylistically and contextually consistent with the 1970s–1980s and most plausibly within 1959–1990; however, no exact date is marked and comparable awards continued to be produced later, so a date after 1990 cannot be fully excluded. Place of Origin: Cuba — associated with Pinar del Río province (the provincial level of the award). Place of manufacture not marked.

Technique: Stamped/cast metal with recessed-relief lettering and portrait; red enamel ground; bar and pendant joined by a suspension loop. A pin/brooch fitting is presumed on the reverse but is not visible.
