A white glazed porcelain dinner plate decorated with three clusters of red poppies and yellow-black foliage arranged at intervals around the rim. The reverse bears a circular maker’s mark reading “Made in Bulgaria / Porzellan” with a logo and the numeral 1. The logo features the letter "K" combined with a flower bud (representing a kitka, which translates to a small bouquet or blossom in Bulgarian).
The red poppy motif was among the most widely produced decorative patterns in Eastern Bloc tableware, appearing on ceramics manufactured across Bulgaria, the GDR, and Czechoslovakia for both domestic use and socialist trade export. Bulgarian ceramics circulated widely through Cuba’s material culture as part of the close economic ties between the island and its Eastern European allies under COMECON.Use
