Description

Swivel lipstick in a red plastic case. The cap is printed with a golden script "tú" logo. Opened, a gold-tone (brass) metal inner barrel rises from the red plastic base and presents an orange lipstick bullet. The paper base label reads "CREYON LABIAL / tú / NARANJA" with the cursive Suchel signature and flower device. The bullet color matches the "Naranja" (orange) shade name.

Context

A Cuban state-produced lipstick from the Suchel perfumery/cosmetics house under the Ministry of Light Industry. The Cuban state perfumery/cosmetics line began with the Empresa Consolidada de Jabonería y Perfumería, founded in 1961 under Minister of Industries Ernesto Guevara, with the Suchel firm taking shape from 1966 and continuing lines formerly made by pre-1959 private houses (Crusellas, Sabatés, Gravi). "tú" was one of Suchel's cosmetic lines; "creyón labial" is the Cuban term for lipstick.
