Description

Small matchbook-style booklet of universal pH indicator (test) paper strips in a printed card cover. Front cover in blue, black, and cream: the "Реахим" (Reakhim) logo, product title "БУМАГА ИНДИКАТОРНАЯ / УНИВЕРСАЛЬНАЯ" (universal indicator paper), "pH 7–14," "75 полосок" (75 strips), and the caution "БЕРЕЧЬ ОТ СЫРОСТИ!" (keep away from damp). Back cover gives the method for determining pH and the batch/date ("ПАРТИЯ 1 / ДАТА 7.82"). Interior shows the printed pH colour-comparison scale (pH 7,0 / 8,0 / 9,0 / 10 → green to purple, alkaline range) and the pad of tear-out strips.

Context

A Soviet laboratory/educational consumable, the USSR counterpart to the Czechoslovak (Spolana) litmus booklet also in the collection. Soviet chemical and laboratory supplies reached Cuba through USSR–Cuba bloc trade. Relevant to the collection's everyday/scientific/educational material culture.
