Larry, originally from Vallejo CA, met and married his first wife, Gail, in Portland Oregon. They soon moved back to Vallejo where Larry began his 30-year career working on Mare Island in the ship-building and nuclear submarine industries, specializing in semi-conductor work for 12 years.
On retiring, Larry moved into Vallejo Hills Retirement Community, where he has been not only a resident, but also an actively engaged community member since 2006. Larry manages The Country Store at Vallejo Hills, and is also involved in the Senior Coalition of Solano County.
He met fellow AWE student, Susan, in 2016 and they married in 2018. Larry started by coloring geometric designs in a coloring book and soon he was creating his own designs experimenting with color arrangements using his preferred medium, glitter gel pens. Larry also creates art in digital media, working with images in Photoshop Elements and Corel Paintshop Pro.
In class with Susan and friends, he jokes, “It’s all her fault, and I love it, I really do enjoy this, what I am doing!”
