Born in San Francisco’s St. Francis Hospital, Debora grew up near Stonestown Galleria with her sister and brother. Her father was a longshoreman and her mother cared for seniors. She remembers a house filled with laughter during her childhood. Everyone was always clowning around and kidding like a bunch of practical jokers - a trait she says she maintains and gladly passed on to her daughter, Tiffany, whom she speaks with almost every day.
In 11th grade, Debra grew tired of regular classes and her reliable escape became drawing and painting. Those skills proved particularly useful when in 1976, she began helping to design and build military fighter jet radars for Lytton Industry.
If it’s quiet enough, she can be heard in art class singing all the lyrics to any classic soul song in perfect pitch, all while making beautiful art.
