I hail from London, England. I came to the U.S. in 1971. Now, more than 50 years later, I'm more a San Franciscan than a Londoner.
I've never painted, since childhood, but finally, at 71 years old, I got into the Art With Elders (AWE) class in Spring 2023. I always wanted to paint: my mother was an artist and my grandfather before her, was quite famous! But I let Life get in the way.
Since joining AWE, I study the world and art works more closely. I enjoy the camaraderie of classmates along with the encouragement and instruction of Hugh Leeman. Now that I'm painting, I have heightened incentive to complete at least one art work, weekly and am loving the process of learning and creating.
Creating art helps alleviate anxieties. It switches my focus onto a challenging and inspiring activity.
