Name/Title
OH - Eva Pettersson - Wayne Shorter Jazz Tenor Sax PlayerDescription
I was born Bodrogi in Budapest, Hungary. My family moved to Sweden after surviving the Holocaust and WWII. I have lived in the US for several decades, mostly in Oakland. Music and visual art have been of great joy in my life. I’m a jazz fan who has been teaching piano and saxophone for 28 years, so music is a big theme for my art. I didn’t really have time or right circumstances to do art until almost two years ago when I joined AWE at Openhouse. It’s been a huge positive change for me. I found that drawing faces was something I really like. Learning to paint with acrylics was a new, exciting and challenging experience. Having a great, kind and patient teacher in Hugh Leeman and generous donations of art materials really helped! Having a regular time every Saturday afternoon where I not only learn, but also get to show my work and see those of the other participants is great! The other artists have been fun to get to know. There’s a sweet sense of encouragement and support among us. For me, it’s very helpful that the classes are on Zoom. With great Gratitude and Love to Openhouse and Art With Elders from this 78 year old late blooming artist💜🎶🎨
