Emelita A. Torio, 62 years of age. I was born in Angeles City, Philippines. I came here in America in 1993. I finished bachelor degree major in biology. I work at State Compensation Insurance Fund. I retired in 2014 as a Program Tech Supervisor. After my retirement I looked for a community to enjoy my daily life. I became a member of the Bayanihan community. I went to Canon Kip Senior Center, Pilipino Seniors Resources Center, Curry Seniors Center, Bindlestiff, Soma Pilipinas Senior advocacy.
When I was young, I really love to draw, most of my subjects are two level and Nipa hat house. I started to draw again last year at Curry Senior Center under Min Lee. In my first day it makes me feel annoyed if I can’t follow, every time I can’t do it I get upset but I really try until I drawn the lady on the bridge that make me motivated to continue the drawing classes. I realized that I can do it just a little patience and hard work. Right now, I am busy at Soma Neighborhood Residents Council as a cochair in the community. Member of Midmarket Coalition. Committee of 6th street of safety and improvement.
