Description

Judy was born in Chicago and moved to Southern California. Her father was born in Chicago a month after his family arrived from Ukraine. She is 84 years old. Judy earned her PhD in Psychology. She was in a mentored program with a group of 12 others who had to be chosen for the program. Judy has one son, two daughters and six grandkids. Something she would like people to know about her is “I am disabled and cannot earn money.” Judy started taking art classes when she first arrived at Belmont Village about two years ago and enjoys expressing herself through these classes. She has worked with art most of her life, beginning in preschool using crayons and purposely putting things in her drawings. When she first painted she used oils. Judy is now painting abstracts in acrylic. By participating in the Art With Elders class Judy has learned “I am very versatile.” Creating art makes her feel at least partly fulfilled. Judy would like to write about the history of different cultures that she has studied, starting with the Egyptian and Tibetan cultures. At one time, she wanted to sleep in the Pyramids of Giza. Judy’s words of wisdom: “Be yourself. Do not lie. Money is not important. What’s important is to be true to God and to yourself.”
