Corean was born in Louisiana and grew up in Texas. She’s the youngest in a large family with four brothers and six sisters.
At the age of 40 she boarded a bus with her sister and moved to Oakland, CA. where she’s made her home ever since. She and her sister bought a house on 64th Avenue where she raised her four children. She studied Dietetics at California State University and worked at UC Hospital.
Corean recently started painting and paints whatever inspires her at the moment. When she first starts a new piece she says, “I always think, what am I doing? But then, I usually feel good about what I’ve painted.”
