Name/Title

OLP - Yuzhen Lu - Hope in the Desert

Description

Mr. Lu has been an artist all his life, with a few detours along the way. Born in China in 1944, he started learning techniques in elementary school when he was seven years old. But there were no art classes in high school and he trained to be a teacher. When he graduated he was drafted by the army and learned to send messages in Morse Code. After five years in the army, he began a 40-year career as a high-school Physics teacher. He would have loved to become an art teacher and to continue painting, but stopped painting since he was so busy. During the Cultural Revolution artists were only allowed to do portraits of Chairman Mao and Karl Marx.
