I grew up in St. Louis, went to nursing school and worked in health care. I married, traveling with my husband who was studying to be a priest-first in Boston seven years, then London and Greece. We lived a very full life when we settled in Oakland, CA to lead a large congregation and raise our five children. Later we were blessed with eight grandchildren.
Due to an injury, I had not been able to do, touch or write with my right hand. When I came to Reutlinger, I was invited to the art class. I was so surprised I could do this drawing and painting! Creating art strengthens my fingers and hand so I am able to move them accurately again. It’s great therapy and it has motivated and encouraged me to continue and progress.
I am so happy to be in this class! I feel inspired and energized to be able to draw and express myself with color! Art has also helped me to recognize that color is mysterious .By working with the color wheel, I have learned to to see the beauty, and feel the warmth that color offers us. It has made me more aware of everything I encounter.
