Shirley Keller - Legs - AWE Open Studios

Name/Title

Shirley Keller - Legs - AWE Open Studios

Description

“The encouragement from this class has taught me that the skills, talent, and ideas that come from me are just fine. They may look primitive, or childlike, in comparison to some other art, but I am trying new things and producing what is mine. It doesn’t have to be compared. I am one of a kind, and so is my art. The online Open Studio on made it possible for me to participate with AWE even though I live in a rural area of Central California. Lucky me. And the folks in my class are from all over the country. We feel gratitude toward Arts With Elders for the online Open Studios.” Spirit Hill Meditation Garden and Art Studio, in Three Rivers, is Keller’s favorite place to be, letting the creative energies have the day. In addition to her work in the AWE class, Keller creates clay masks, and repurposes items like hubcaps, skill saws, and horseshoes into art pieces with dots of acrylic. Mixing words and art is her latest exploration. Keller’s artwork grew out of her love of writing, which she does every morning. She is the Coordinator for 1st Saturday in Three Rivers, a monthly art event. Keller has been published in two books: But What About The Children? Diversity is Life: A Memoir and Tulare-Kings Writers Present Tales from the Strip Mall, An Anthology of Short Stories. She is currently working on a new book which incorporates her writing and paintings.
