Gaylee Rubin - Enid’s Decision - Reutlinger

Name/Title

Gaylee Rubin - Enid’s Decision - Reutlinger

Description

I am new to painting but not to the arts. I earned an MFA in creative writing at the University of Michigan and have been writing short stories since I was in my 20’s. “Enid’s Decision” is one in a series of crayon resist paintings. I first chose the images and made rubbings in blue on surf paper; this paper turns transparent when glued. I watercolored the orange background, and then, glued on the linear rubbings and watercolored again. Enid is a liberated butterfly. She can do what she wants. So, she has to know what she wants- and then, she has to do it. Poor Enid….all of this and she’s just a butterfly.
