Name/Title
Laguna Honda - Alberto - Red BarnDescription
As he walks through the halls of Laguna Honda Hospital, Alberto Lopez is quick to greet his many friends and lend a helping hand to his fellow residents. He is also known to kindly tease others with his sharp sense of humor. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Alberto moved with his family to San Francisco when he was about six years old. This sweet gentleman worked hard his whole life raising his three daughters who then raised seven grandchildren. In a delightful twist of fate, Alberto worked on the construction team of Laguna Honda’s 2010 facilities replacement project and fondly remembers installing drywall in the very halls where he walks today!
Alberto faithfully attends his Wednesday and Thursday art classes. He enjoys the music and camaraderie, claiming the classes lift his spirits and make him feel more positive. His preferred medium is colored pencils. With a strong interest in nature, his subjects are primarily landscapes, birds, and flowers. He gleans inspiration from calendars and nature photographs and applies his keen focus to make multiple drawings each month. He wants folk to know that his art practice not only teaches him to be a better artist, but also helps increase his patience.
