Grant Chau was born in Queens New York and moved to San Francisco in 1989 just after the Loma Prieta earthquake. Grant has always been a sports fan, both as an avid participant and observer. No matter what sport, however, he will always consider basketball player Larry Bird as the best athlete ever born.
Grant moved West about 30 years ago to pursue a career in health and fitness and his skills found a welcoming home in the Bay Area where be began managing 24 Hour Fitness Centers, his favorite being the one located in San Francisco on Van Ness Ave.
Despite dealing with a health condition for over 12 years that has increasingly restricted his ability to get around, Grant remains excited and adventurous, seeking out new challenges and experiences. Believe it or not, Grant had never made art before joining AWE just about a year ago. He’s incredibly proud to have a piece in the show and looks forward to trying new media and subject matter as his imagination expands and his skills sharpen.
