Description
My name is Bea Bergerman. I was born in Berlin, Germany on January 23, 1932. When things got bad for Jewish people, my family and I were fortunate to receive documents to go to Shanghai which was the only country at the time to accept Jews.. We left Germany in 1939 and traveled through Poland and Russia by train, then took a Japanese ship to Shanghai. I went to a British school, learned English and after seven years came to America, where I continued my education. Afterwards, I got a job at a tire and battery company, got married, had three daughters. When I retired, I moved to Rossmoor in Walnut Creek and after seven years went to Reutlinger, where I started taking art classes which I enjoy, first with Betty and now with Ashot.
