SFSC Aquatic Park - Lily Yip - Bathing in the Lake
Description
Lily Yip moved to the US from Hong Kong as a teenager. As a deeply visual person, she has always loved plants and nature, which are often reflected in her paintings. She joined the Art With Elders class at Aquatic park in March 2024 and studies with Andrew Miller, whom she describes as a great teacher.
She enjoys seeing possibilities and playing with color on canvas, and finds peace in the quiet focus of creating art. Through the class, she continues to learn new techniques and to see things from different perspectives. Her artist’s eye has deepened her appreciation for nature, animals, and many everyday things we often take for granted.
She has formed friendships with fellow seniors in the class, sharing their love of art. She and her classmate Bob have become good friends and sometimes spend time together. Her words of wisdom: have patience in creating art, and you’ll see the reward in beautiful paintings.
